After a horrible loss to the Steelers last week, the Raiders are in shambles and Jimmy G is in concussion protocol. This raises the question- Who should start: Brian Hoyer or Aiden O'Connell? To me, this is not even a question.
Let's start with Brian Hoyer. Brian Hoyer is 37 years old. Yeah, 37. We know what he can do, and he is clearly not a franchise Quarterback. Sure, if he plays for a year, he may get a few wins. Will he get you to the playoffs? Absolutely not. If the Raiders start him, it is pretty much a guarantee they will lose. Its harsh but true.
Now, onto Aiden O'Connell. O'Connell was very promising in preseason, and he looked like he could be a very good NFL Quarterback. Now, I know, preseason means nothing. But let me ask you this question-Why not start him? He is a young QB who the Raiders hope will eventually be their franchise leader. Give him the opportunity now to prove himself. If he loses and plays bad, so what? You would likely get the same result with Hoyer starting.Talent at the QB position is rare to come by, so passing on starting someone like O'Connell would be a massive mistake.
