Is the Nathaniel Hackett and Russell Wilson relationship destined to fail? In the Week 1 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Nathaniel Hackett had a choice to make. The Broncos were down one point with a little over 1 minute left. On third and fourteen Russell Wilson throws a completion to Javonte Williams who runs it 9 yards. With a minute on the clock, it is 4th and 5. If they decide to kick a field goal, it would be 64 yards. Or, you could let your $245 million dollar quarterback try to pick up 5 yards and make it an easy field goal. Nathaniel Hackett elected to take the FG from 64 yards out. It missed wide left and the Seahawks won the game. Here is my problem with this situation. If it’s someone like Sam Darnold, then I would understand taking the Field Goal. But, in Russell Wilson’s revenge game against the Seahawks? This is a situation where you put your trust in your franchise quarterback and let them pick up the first down. This game made me wonder: Does Nathaniel Hackett really trust Russell Wilson? If not, where is this Broncos team headed?
